News Brief

KXCV/KRNW listening area has more rain and fewer heat advisories

The recent rain in the KXCV/KRNW listening area is higher than normal for this time of year. Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, Andy Bailey, says that rain totals in St. Joseph are especially high.

"For the month of August in St. Joseph they picked a little over 3 inches of rain, which is about three quarters of an inch above normal.  The normal for this date this far into August is about 2.3 inches."

Bailey says the region hasn't experienced any prolonged heat wave this summer.

"We've been actually a little cooler this summer than normal.  And that also goes along with heat advisories.  We've only had a handful of heat advisories so far this year.  And I know last year for instance I don't exactly how many heat advisories we issued, but it was significantly more than what we have this year."
